5 on Friday {Linked Up} All About Fall

I don't know about you all, but I CAN'T WAIT for fall to come.  There's been a massive heat wave in Nebraska with temperatures in the triple digits.  After this week I am ready for colder weather, sweatshirts, and bonfires.  The fall season makes me so giddy because of how beautiful everything looks! The leaves are colorful and crunchy and the air is crisp. Ahh perfection.  So, with the 5 on Friday link up today, it's all about fall, y'all!

-ONE-  With fall comes the greatest sports season- football! Game day is just around the corner- and you can bet I'll be there! I'm a student so I had to buy student tickets, but reminiscing to the before college days, I can remember having the game on the radio while my family did usual Saturday things.  Hearing the announcers, the static of the AM radio, and the crowd cheering through the speakers when my Huskers scored a touch down will forever be remembered.

-TWO- This is so beautiful! The leaves and table make me want to just sit and drink hot apple cider. (Is it bad that I'm literally picturing myself curled up in that chair?)

-THREE-  The newest Southern Living subscription came in the mail the other day.  I haven't had time to read it yet because of school (boo!) but it will be read and recipes will be made!

-FOUR-  YUM, okay this looks so good!  I will definitely be making this Pumpkin Spice White Chocolate Caramel Popcorn.  Anything with pumpkin spice, chocolate, or caramel I'm all about.

-FIVE-  What is it about fall and bonfires? They are seriously my favorite thing to have during the fall season.  Growing up, I've always had a bonfire pit to roast some hotdogs and marshmallows and enjoy good company of friends and family.  Someone in my friend group would bring their guitar and all of us would sing around the fire.  There is nothing better.

As you can tell, I may be slightly obsessed with fall and all that goes with it.  Come on cool weather!!

A Sister Shoot {Bella and Lilli}

Over this past summer I got the chance to take pictures for my neighbor's granddaughters.  I was watching them for the weekend and we decided to surprise their mom with these pictures when she got back from her trip.  The girls had so much fun picking out their outfits, and loved that I curled their hair and painted their nails.  I have watched them over the years and have seen them grow up into beautiful girls.  This was such a fun shoot to do- they are both natural born models- let me tell you!!

This shoot completely reflects my personality and theirs as well.  It's girly, simplistic, and natural with a playful side, which I love.

Hopefully more shoots are to come!

Teacher Talk {Linking Up}

Hi everyone! I am so excited to finally start this teacher talk link up with the lovely ladies of Southern Simplicity and Bloom. This is perfect timing because I have just started classes of my senior year (finally!) I'm getting closer and closer to a classroom of my own and could not be more excited!
First off, my name is Katie and I'm an Early Childhood/Elementary Education major from Nebraska. (Go Big Red!)

I am currently still taking classes to finish my undergrad but am crossing my fingers I can someday teach 1st grade. These first grade children are at the time in school where reading is crucial to get the hang of. They have already passed the basics of "how to be" in school and can now dive into rich learning!

I want to teach because I not only have a passion for children, but I have a passion to make a difference in a child's life. I want to be the one who they can feel comfortable with. These students may only be shown love and compassion from me while they are at school in my classroom. I want to be that one who can show them the love and encouragement they need to succeed in and outside of school.  I'm excited for the good days when my students will understand the material I am teaching, and the not-so-good days where they are being challenged and the material may be too difficult for them at that time.

I will be working with students this semester in a few of my classes but will not have a classroom of my own.  I'm looking forward to see where this semester takes me in my classes, passions, and direction after graduation.

I'm SO excited for Teacher Talk! Enjoy your Tuesday!

Hello Recruitment 2013!

Guess what time of year it is? That's right, RECRUITMENT!

GO HUSKERS! (Am I right?)

If I have learned one thing by going greek it has been to be confident in all I do.  I have Kappa Delta to thank for that!  College is about living your life and finding who you are and what you want to be.  I used to be hesitant on doing certain things with the unknown of who's going to be at a certain place, what's going to happen etc.  But now, I just dive on in! Going greek has opened so many doors and opportunities, created lifelong friendships, and has let me find my niche on a big campus.

I'm going into my senior year of college (scary to think about, I know) and can't help but think going greek has been the best thing about college!

I know recruitment week can seem stressful and rushed, but ENJOY the moments! I can remember last year during recruitment week we were worried about not being ready, so to take off some stress, someone decided we should have a massive dance-off before the next party.  This small amount of time lifted so many spirits, eased our frustrations and nerves, and put all of us in a GREAT mood.  Girls still talk about that moment to this day.

One of the biggest regrets of college I have is not joining a sorority as a freshman (I joined as a sophomore).  If you are hesitant on joining sorority life, JUST GO FOR IT!

What are some of your best memories of recruitment? Or, what excites you about going greek?

I am so excited to say that this is my first link-up and I thought this would be the perfect one to start with because I always have so many random things I love running through my mind!

-ONE-
I have been going through a rough time personally and I've been wondering where my future is headed and what God's plan for me is.  This verse sums it up perfectly.  He is not finished with me and has a great future planned for me.  It is so encouraging!  I'm keeping my faith and hope in Him!

-TWO-
Okay- so I've been LOVING to go thrift shopping.  Because I will have a classroom of my own soon I'm stocking up now- but I've bought everything I have from a thrift shop.  Here's a look at my last group of finds.  JACKPOT!

-THREE-
These puppies are seriously melting my heart! I want to cuddle all of them. Right now.

-FOUR-
I went to Belize at the beginning of the summer and am SO missing it right now.  Nebraska has been unusually cold and cloudy- especially for July.  I could go for some warm and sunny weather right about now. Coco Beach Resort was PARADISE! I highly recommend visiting.

-FIVE-
This past weekend I spent a couple days at one of my Kappa Delta sister's lake house in Iowa.  It was exactly what I needed- a nice relaxing day on the water away forgetting about my rough time.  I am so grateful for the beautiful friendships I have made through Kappa Delta.  My sisters are so supportive and show so much love.  I am so blessed!

I hope you all enjoy your friday! What have been some of your favorites from this week?

The BEST Hot Fudge Sauce Recipe

Okay, so I absolutely LOVE chocolate, which is why I literally drool over this homemade hot fudge sauce; It is so rich and creamy.  It has a chocolaty taste that will blow all store-bought hot fudge sauces out of the water!

It is such a simple treat that can be drizzled over vanilla ice cream within about 10 minutes.

This hot fudge makes 1-1½ cups, which is perfect for a get together with friends, or really, let’s just be honest; it’s enough to only last me about 2 days if I eat it myself!

Recipe:
3/4 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1/4 cup butter (4 Tablespoons)
2/3 cup sugar
1- 5 oz can (2/3 cup) evaporated milk

In a small, heavy saucepan melt butter and chocolate chips.
Next add sugar.  Slowly add the evaporated milk, stirring frequently.

Bring fudge to a boil; then reduce heat.  Let it boil gently over a low heat stirring frequently for 8 minutes.

Remove from heat and immediately drizzle over ice cream.

Whatever you don’t scarf down the first time, you can save in the refrigerator for later!

                                                           Enjoy your Friday!
