The Final Countdown

Holy smokes.
Tuesday I start the last semester of my college career.  Having two majors has been difficult at times, but I'm so close to graduation it was completely worth it! Time to start the final countdown.  This semester I will be teaching little Kindergarten babies in the school district that I went to school in and I couldn't be more excited!

Does anyone have any tips for student teaching? If you've been reading this blog for awhile, you know I taught preschool last semester but Kindergarten in the public school system will be a completely different ball game.

I'm nervous but I'm so ready for their absorbent minds, peanut butter and jelly faces, and funny mannerisms.  Well, wish me luck!

  1. That is awesome you are getting to do your student teaching in the district you went to!

I did mine 3 years ago but the best piece of advice I can give is to know that sometimes what you plan to be a great lesson might flop and THAT'S OKAY!! That is what student teaching is for...you try things and sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. If you have a great cooperating teacher, ask him or her to give you constructive criticism. I had one cooperating teacher who gave me pointers on each lesson and how I could improve. It really helped! Don't forget that the teacher you're working with was in your shoes once so they are there to help...they wouldn't have taken you in otherwise!

and make sure you wear COMFORTABLE shoes!

    1. Ahh thank you, Kristin! This helps so much! I definitely try to have each lesson be "perfect" but I need to remember that it won't always be how I planned. Thanks for the advice :)
